Cardinal John Baptist Phạm Minh Mẫn recuperates from spinal disc herniation
Cardinal John Baptist Phạm Minh Mẫn, Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Ho Chi Minh City, has been recuperating from a surgery. He was diagnosed with lumbar disc herniation between the fourth and fifth lumbar vertebral and underwent a 3-hour laparoscopic surgery at General Hospital in Singapore on August 14. After ten days of having post-surgery care and successful recuperation, Cardinal John Baptist Phạm Minh Mẫn returned to Vietnam yesterday and begins his rehabilitation.
Receiving many warm wishes and greetings upon his return to the Archdiocese, the Cardinal expresses his gratitude for the prayers, wishes, and personal affection. “Along with my rehabilitation, love is incredibly important,” the Cardinal states, “I have experienced this compassion from many people and I am grateful for that.”
During this time when his archbishop residence is under renovation, the Cardinal will continue his rehabilitation in the Pastoral Center with specified nutrition and physical therapy.
